Post up a notice The moment that your heart leaves this town Ooh ooh ooh Distinguished opinions For ghosts and collectors to clamour around Ooh ooh ooh Maybe tomorrow you get to be just what you want Maybe tomorrow everything will be like you thought When you’re putting out fires Is that match in your pocket one of your own? Ooh ooh ooh Maybe tomorrow you get to be just what you want Maybe tomorrow everything will be like you thought Little by little, dreams fall ashes drifting down to the ground Watching them spinning, you don’t make a sound Maybe tomorrow you get to be just what you want Maybe tomorrow everything will be like you thought

Hypnotised By A Mirror (free) 03:23
Hypnotised by a mirror Hung on a crown Swap your flag for surgical gown Your present fear is most certainly justified Your presence here feels incredibly dignified Cut out of a cloth, from which they don’t make two Try not to act surprised, when it comes down on you Hypnotised by a mirror Hung on a crown Swap your flag for surgical gown Oh to be wonderful like the ocean view Not to be one to fool like you’re supposed to do Messiahs on patent screens disconnect the ends Star signs fill their sleeves so silence can’t condemn Hypnotised by a mirror Hung on a crown Swap your flag for surgical gown In dreams the words appear so free Judgement from this eternity Pushed and contorted to fit the mould Despairing of the truth that you have been sold Hypnotised by a mirror Hung on a crown Swap your flag for surgical gown

There's no stopping now This is what you do Can't run away anyhow This is what you do Swallow in admission against the undertow Digest the daily dosage so the saints don't know Overcompensate for natures misdirection Exchange of promises provides fleeting redemption There's no stopping now This is what you do Can't run away anyhow This is what you do Digress from registration with the lost and found Pattern recognition leads the newly crowned Cut cornered puzzle pieces looking for a home Colliding angels ‘n demons until you're alone There's no stopping now This is what you do Can't run away anyhow This is what you do Ignite then extinguish Control then relinquish There's no stopping now This is what you do Can't run away anyhow This is what you do

Hours 03:58
Memories moving through the ether Getting absorbed by your bones Been waiting here around the corner Til it hits you won’t be coming home Saying nothing lasts forever Grates like nails because it’s true Remove the name from off the letters Heart held together with drips of superglue It’s been hours since I’ve been missing you Didn’t need to count the flowers to know that it’s true Time spent waiting out the days Time spent waiting out the days Moments overcome with sinking Making mornings hard to bear Tried so hard with not forgetting Looking for distractions so not to stare It’s been hours since I’ve been missing you Didn’t need to count the flowers to know that it’s true Time spent waiting out the days Time spent waiting out the days Realise you’ve reached an end Accommodating foes and friends Make a way to find a light Even if good judgement Deserts time after time It’s been hours since I’ve been missing you Didn’t need to count the flowers to know that it’s true Time spent waiting out the days Time spent waiting out the days

Dreaming 02:35
Tonight these walls want to sleep This heart could use a little rest Time to give in Eyes closed instead Waiting for the sun to hide There’s nothing left to be achieved Don’t worry now You can just breath Dreaming your life away 12 months till the window gleams When winter rolls into Spring Wish for today Farewell it seems Dreaming your life away

A line of stomach bands For scorched earth policy Seeking warmth in science And technology Free fall philosophy From the top of the mountain Where you gonna land After the counting Who taught you to live that way Keep digging the hole keep digging Try living with what you’re thinking You’re the captain and the ship is sinking Keep digging the hole keep digging Na na nanana Who taught you to live that way Never thought that you’d see the day

Instructions 02:51
Nothing is new under the sun Under the moon or under your ceiling When it’s all said and done It shouldn’t be so revealing Did you read the instructions for this life? To find out how it works Take a look you might find The precedent ain’t a secret Ignorance might be blind The consequence is only regret Did you read the instructions for this life? To find out how it works When will we ever learn What is won, what is earned Understanding feels so strange There is nothing that can’t be rearranged Did you read the instructions for this life? To find out how it works
9.
Analysing expectations May well be the death of me Constant cryptic explanations Accumulate to form your new apology Limitless charming destruction Loses its sparkle over time Dust gathering on this discussion Just like the questions answered only in your mind Don’t call to tell me that you’re lonely Don’t call to tell me you still care Don’t call to tell me that you’re lonely I just need to know you’re not there any more Getting used to obsolescence Isn’t difficult to do Take note for future point of reference Everything means nothing the more it means to you Now I’m stuck here doing time (doing time) Never thought you’d be tongue tied (be tongue tied) Go find your corner I’ll find mine Sleep in the shadow of your lies

Lyrics Kurt Bloch I did the same thing again I started running again I ran away I gave up I can't get it I can't quit it I am wrong again I ruined everything again I let them all down again I ran away I gave up I can't get it I can't quit it I am wrong again There's always tomorrow There's always tomorrow There's always tomorrow I ruined everything again I let them all down again I ran away I gave up I can't get it I can't quit it I am wrong again There's always tomorrow There's always tomorrow There's always tomorrow

about

Conceived in Launceston, recorded in Manly, Marrickville, Paris and Los Angeles and mastered in Seattle, the 2014 debut album by J. Robert Youngtown is a testament to the tyranny of distance not being a barrier.

The Tasmanian artist has amassed something of a supergroup, featuring You Am I drummer Rusty Hopkinson, multi-instrumentalist & co-producer Jon Auer of The Posies/Big Star and Redd Kross/OFF! bassist Steven McDonald. This feat is even more impressive considering his reclusiveness and geographical isolation.

The album zigzags through a garage rock, 60's British pop and 90′s power-pop charged musical path, mining that rich terrain and throws in a few thoughtful and intriguing oddities for good measure. Combining a deep love of four chord rock and majestic jangly pop ballads, ‘Moderate Aspects’ is filled with alluring melodies and rich aural textures paying homage to the indomitable guitar yet nimbly manages to keep left of center enough to surprise.

J. Robert has combined bits and pieces from the unique sonic universe he inhabits in creating ‘Moderate Aspects‘ and he’s very pleased to reveal the first video clip from the album. Check out the video for the single 'Maybe Tomorrow" here:

Press reviews:
Moderate Aspects, by just about any stretch of the critical imagination, is a quality powerpop record. – Beat Magazine

A throwback to the glory days of rock’n’roll (4 stars) – The Mercury

It’s a total throwback to the mid-’90s golden age of Matthew Sweet and Sloan – and arguably even further back than that.- Mess and Noise (Hypnotised By A Mirror, 7” single)

He’s a gentle fellow whose calm demeanor barely covers a mischievous edge. - Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, Big Star, REM)
